China's women's football team is still on a roll at Shenzhen. The surprising squad took on Russia in the quarterfinals.

There was no score until China broke through during the first half. Defender Zhao Lili sided-footed a volley into the back of the net for 1-0.

That would inspire striker Wang Shanshan a short time later. She was determined to take it to the house, but her final effort was smothered by the Russian goalkeeper. The score remained 1-0.

Wang did not quit, she mounted another effort at 69 minutes. Russia defender failed to clear a cross and Wang tapped in the rebound.

China led 2-0 and went for more. Captain Bi Yan knocked-in a deflected shot. And Bi Yan grabbed a second goal before the final whistle. China wins it 4-1 and moves to the semifinals.
