With just one training session in southern California under his belt, Irish veteran Robbie Keane made his debut for LA Galaxy on Saturday night as they took on the San Jose Earthquakes.

L.A. fans were excited to see their new signing in action and he wasted little time showing them what he had in store.

A dozen minutes into the match the Galaxy were on the attack, the ball ricochetes off two San Jose defenders and Keane takes it in for a shot, but the flag was raised as the Republic of Ireland international was offside.

In the 21st minute, Beckham chips the ball forward and it flies past a San Jose defender to Keane, the Irishman simply steps past Busch and shoots into the empty net. Keane pulls out his trademark celebration for the Galaxy fans and L.A. led 1-0.

Beckham's ball catches the Earthquakes flat-footed and it finds Keane onside. A quick dummy sends Busch flying and a wide open goal mouth invites him in. 123 goals in 343 matches in the Premiership and now Keane collects his first in Major League Soccer after just 21 minutes in the competition.

After the half time break Keane collects another long ball but volleys it over the bar. Keane was substituted in the 72nd minute, he had 18 touches, three shots and a goal on his Galaxy debut. Contacted on Monday, signed on Wednesday, flew in on Thursday, trained on Friday and scores on Saturday. What an investment.

Galaxy wins the match 2-0 and Keane gets a standing ovation.
