USA's Reese claims long jump title

In the women's long jump, Brittney Reese defended her title, beating Olga Kucherenko of Russia and Ineta Radevica of Latvia. With an opening jump of 6.82 meters, she gave the United States their first gold medal of the competition. Kucherenko jumped 6.77 meters and European champion Radevica was only 0.01 meters behind for bronze in the tight competition.
