Usain Bolt ran his first 100 metre race since he was disqualified for false-starting at the Daegu World Championships and ran his best time of the season on Tuesday at the IAAF World Challenge in Zagreb, Croatia.

The Jamaican recovered to retain his 200 metre title - and the 4 x 100 metres gold in a world record time - and put on another show to close the IAAF World Challenge, taking first place in this race in a time of 9.85 seconds - his best of the season by three hundredths, but still almost a tenth of a second behind Asafa Powell's fastest time of the year. 35 year-old Kim Collins of St. Kitts and Nevis, the surprise bronze medallist in Daegu, took second place with another season's best - 10.01, ahead of Richard Thompson of Trinidad. Bolt went some way to mitigate some of the damage done with his false start in South Korea, but the record books will still say that his Jamaican compatriot Yohan Blake is the 2011 world champion. Bolt has one more race to run this season, a 200 metres in Brussels on Friday.

Usain Bolt, 100m winner of Zagreb IAAF World Challenge said, "Personally I felt I could have done a little bit better. It was a poor start I think, it was really a poor start. I kind of lost concentration for a bit after the start, because I was partially expecting a better start, so I kind of lost concentration. But then I just went through to the execution and after that I ran through the line so it was okay but I think I could have done better especially with the good weather like this and good conditions."
