Villarreal entertained Mallorca in round four of the 2011-12 La Liga campaign. Each team suffered a 1-0 loss during the weekend.

The hosts grabbed the advantage in the eighth minute. Giuseppe Rossi slid the ball under the on-rushing Dudu Aouate. Villarreal took the 1-0 lead.

And the club added a second right after the interval. Aouate made another aggressive move on defense, and Brazilian star Nilmar circled past him. That goal made it 2-nil.

Villarreal entertained Mallorca in round four of the 2011-12 La Liga campaign. Each team suffered a 1-0 loss during the weekend.

Mallorca had a couple of chances midway through the second half. Sergio Tejera narrowly missed from outside the penalty area.

Then, with less than three minutes left, the visitors were denied by Cristian Zapata at the line. This ball danced on the razor's edge but Zapata's heads-up play kept it 2-nil. That's how it ends, as Villarreal claims its first win of the season.

To the table Valencia and Real Betis are the surprising leaders in the Primera Liga. Barcelona's 8-nil weekend whitewashing of Osasuna may have been a turning point for the champions. They currently sit in fourth, just behind Sevilla. Real Madrid's in sixth, after a shock defeat to Levante.
