Malaysian Manan wins fifth stage of 2011 Tour of Hainan
 
CHENGMAI, South China, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) --- Malaysian rider Anuar Manan from Terengganu Cycling Team timed three hours 21 minutes and 25 seconds to win the fifth stage of 2011 Tour of Hainan on Monday.

Manan's teammate Mohd Harrif Saleh came second in 3:21:26 and Dene Thomas Rogers from Giant Kenda Cycling Team was third in 3:21:26.

Wang Meiyin from China National Team ranked second in terms of the best Asian rider.

Justin Jules from Velo-Club La Pomme Marseille in Latvia retained the yellow jersey for the first five stages for leading the general individual classifications.

Kenny Van Hummel from Skil-Shimano in the Netherlands locked the green jersey for leading the sprints classifications as of Monday.

So far, Valentin Iglinskiy from Pro Team Astana remains the best Asian rider.

Julien Antomarchi of Velo-Club La Pomme Marseille keeps the polka-dot jersey as there is no mountain at the fifth stage.

Manan stayed in front at the beginning and broke away with several kilometers to go.

"I believed in myself and my teammates," he said after the race.

Justin Jules said that he would try to defend the yellow jersey and be aware of challenge from Pro Team Astana.

Valentin Iglinskiy, who lost the green jersey on Monday, said that he would get the jersey back.

A total of 108 riders from 19 cycling teams participated in the fifth stage starting from Haikou, the capital city of South China's Hainan Province, to Chengmai County in northern Hainan.

Tuesday will see the 172.8km sixth stage from Chengmai to Danzhou in northwest of Hainan.
