A matchup between the Montreal Canadiens and the Los Angeles Kings. The Canadiens went in looking for their seventh win on the road, to counter 6 losses and 1 tie away from Montreal.

The teams skated through most of the first period scoreless, then Montreal's Tomas Plekanec took a pass and rifled the puck past Kings backup goalie Jonathan Bernier. The Habs took a 1-0 lead.

Montreal's Andrei Kostitsyn added another goal. He notched his seventh of the season midway through the second period. That one put the Canadiens up 2-0 at L-A.

The Kings made it halfway back when power forward Dustin Penner tipped a Drew Doughty shot past Carey Price on an L-A power play. It was 2-1 with 6:14 remaining in the middle period.

But the Kings would fail to get the equalizer. Price earned his 10th win of the year and the Canadiens took their 11th win of the season. Montreal improved to 27 points with the victory.
