Lin Dan tops Chen Long 2-1: BWF World Superseries Finals

The Badminton World Superseries Finals are underway in China’s southern city of Liu Zhou. One of the most anticipated clashes is between World No. 2 Lin Dan and his Chinese teammate Chen Long, who is currently World No. 3.

Super Dan holds a 3-0 record against Chen in international meetings but expected a tough challenge as Chen is a three-time winner from this year’s three Superseries events.

But Olympic champion Lin Dan broke away midway through the opening game, and stormed to a 25-15 set win. Chen regained his poise in the next game. Playing aggressively against his legendary teammate he moved into a surprising 16-9 lead.

Despite a late charge from Lin, Chen capitalized on a game point to grab the equaliser 21-19. But it was Lin who took charge in the decider with Chen faltering. Super Dan went on to win the game 21-17, for a 2-1 opening encounter victory.
