Barcelona blanks Osasuna 4-0

Barcelona entertained Osasuna in the first leg of the Copa del Rey round of 16. Barca’s home fans went to the Nou Camp expecting a flood of goals, after a high-scoring battle between the two teams earlier in the league season.

Aafter the first twenty minutes, it seemed as if they would get their wish. Dani Alves and Xavi worked their magic at the edge of the Osasuna penalty area and created a chance for Cesc Fabregas,the former Arsenal captain gave Barca the lead after 14 minutes.

Xavi threaded a pass to Fabregas and watch this turn and chip into the Osasuna goal. High-class finesse from Barcelona. The score remained 2-0 into half-time.

Barca coach Pep Guardiola decided to bring in substitute Lionel Messi. He was expected to miss the game with a flu-like virus, but the Argentine World Player of the Year delivered his usual sick moves against Osasuna.

After 72 minutes, the teams scrambled in front of the Osasuna goal, then the ball bounced out to Fabregas. He crossed to Messi for the rare header, the score changes to 3-0.

In the first minute of added time, Messi picked up another pass from Xavi and scored his second and Barcelona’s fourth. Barca blanks Osasuna 4-0.
