Many young athletes have been drawing praise at the National Winter Games. Among them are a set of twins from the city of Tonghua. 19-year old brothers, Wang Shaoqing and Wang Shaolin participated in the very demanding nordic combined team event.

Young faces are common at the national games. But rarely are they this similar.Born only two minutes apart, Wang Shaoqing and Wang Shaolin are competing in their first ever national games.Younger brother Shaolin was the first sibling to take the leap.

In the ski jumping competition, Shaolin registered a jump of 60.5 meters, a personal best. But his older brother jump was not as successful. Maybe feeling a little pressure, Shaoqing jumps only 31.5 meters, far less than expected.

Wang Shaoqing said, "It’s too bad. I didn’t practice enough. I trained less than ten times." And his brother, Wang Shaolin said he was just too timid.

Short on time, the duo do not have a chance to eat their lunch, and must hurry to getready for the cross-country portion of the event. Most of their rivals are competitive cross-country skiers. The brothers are mere amateurs by comparison.

Shaolin finishes the 5 kilometer race in last. And Shaoqing fares a little better, he is 35 minutes behind the race winner.

Shaoqing said, "I’m not happy with this result. I’ll train harder when I get back home."

The twins would end up finishing in the bottom two places, but have set a goal to return to the national games.
