Another bizarre incident at this year’s Dakar Rally left damage and injuries in the northern Chilean city of Antofogasta on Tuesday. A pair of competitors went badly off course and smashed their off-road vehicle into a private car.

Prime Stadium team driver Francisco Pita and his co-pilot Humberto Goncalves were speeding alongside cars on the city streets when they blew through an intersection and crashed.

The woman driving the other car was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Local police escorted the Portuguese team out of town so they could return to the race course.

This year’s Dakar has already taken the lives of one driver and two spectators, and left another driver in critical condition.
