Harbin snowboarders triumph in half-pipe

Two gold medals were handed out in men’s and women’s snowboard half-pipe team event. Vancouver Olympian Cai Xuetong combined with Li Shuang and Chen Xu for Harbin in the women’s competition.

Cai executed a flawless routine featuring high-end stunts and jumps, which earned her the highest mark of 25.10 points. That paved the way for her teammates to secure the title. Harbin finished with 62 points to win the women’s team title.

The men’s contest featured even more spectacular stunts. Snowboarding star Zhang Yiwei anchored the Harbin men’s squad and displayed his high-flying skills. Zhang’s jimps, spins and twists brought him a winning mark of 25.40 points, adding to Harbin’s total of 72.20, good enough for Harbin to win the gold.
