Thunder squeeze past Grizzlies

In Memphis, the Grizzlies hosted the Oklahoma City Thunder. Rudy Gay took on Kevin Durant here. Gay scored 16 points on the night. His Griz led late in the first quarter.

Teammate O.J. Mayo had 12 overall. He converted off a turnover and made it a five point lead for Grizzlies midway through the second.

The Grizzlies then do it again on "D". Memphis starts on the run after another turnover, and Tony Allen would finish. The Thunder finally met the challenge on the defensive end. Durant blocking, Russell Westbrook scoring, OKC on top.

In the fourth quarter, Mike Conley led the break for the Grizzlies and Gay scores with the slam. Memphis played tough at home, but still trailed going down the stretch.

Westbrook and Oklahoma City responded by stretching the lead to 6. The ex-UCLA Bruin scored 30 on the night on 12 of 20 shooting. Quincy Pondexter pulled the game back into the Grizzlies’ reach with a triple - Memphis down 3 with 56 seconds to go.

The final possession for Memphis still down by 3, but losing the ball at the worst possible time. The Thunder beat the Grizzlies 100-95.
