Li Na’s compatriot Zheng Jie continued her Australian Open campaign in a round of 16 matchup against Marion Bartoli. The un-seeded Zheng aimed for the upset against the 9th seed from France.

It didn’t take long before Zheng Jie began to dictate the terms for this match. The two players staged a classic hard-court rally from the baseline before anyone conceded service games.

Zheng Jie began playing an agressive style that brought her to the net. She jumped to a 5-3 lead and went onto grab the opening set 6-3.

The Chinese star carried her poise into second set. Bartoli dropped another service game as Zheng stepped-it-up for a 4-2 lead.

Zheng Jie stretched it to 5-3 in the second. The Chinese played her best tennis during her final service game with some crushing groundstrokes.

Bartoli finally hit a weak response wide. Zheng Jie sealed the match 6-3, 6-3, and joined Li Na in the fourth round at Melbourne.
