Xinjiang dumps Liaoning 104-99

The Chinese Basketball Association is setting up for its first round of playoffs this season. The Xinjiang Flying Tigers hosted the Liaoning Northeast Tigers on Wednesday night. Seventh ranked Xinjiang was riding a four-game winning streak and a win would secure its berth in the CBA playoffs starting in two weeks.

But the 10th ranked Northeast Tigers would not give in, Han Dejun scored on the inside. That’s two of his 12 on the night for Liaoning, and his team was only gtting started.

Yang Ming led Liaoning on a 12-6 run. He went on to convert a three point play to keep the pressure on favored Xinjiang.

But the Flying Tigers finally got up to speed. Tim Pickett went to the rack and put Xinjiang ahead by one.

The American forward set up Mengke Bateer for a layup, and the hosts led by 3.

Xinjiang was strong on the front line. Tang Zhengdong took control in the paint, he made it a 6 point game with a layup.

Liaoning faded from there, Pickett’s line included 33 points and 11 boards. He nailed-down the win as Xinjiang won it, 104-99.
