Italy and the USA will face each other in another international football friendly in Genoa. The 2006 World Cup winner Italy will use Wednesday’s match to test players ahead of the European Championship in June. The USA hopes the game will kick-start its qualification campaign from the Americas for the 2014 World Cup.

Italian coach Cesare Prandelli had given Roma’s Fabio Borini a first call-up when planning for group matches during Euro 2012. He pointed out that Wednesday’s game would not be so 'friendly'.

Cesare Prandelli, Italian coach, said, "For me this friendly is very important, because we are trying to show everyone that when we are wearing the Italian shirt, friendly matches are not really friendly. We need to have respect for our fans, because if we run into difficult moments we could get some help from them. These matches are useful, as far as I am concerned, to evaluate, for example, the two fowards Ogbonna and Borini and if they will be used for Euro 2012"

USA coach Juergen Klinsmann led Germany against the Italians in the semi final of the 2006 World Cup. But this time he will show off the Americans’ soccer quality in Genoa.

Juergen Klinsmann, U.S. coach, said, "We have come here to take another step towards qualification for the World Cup in Brazil, and to show ourselves and Italy that we have great qualities. It is a team that comes here to put itself on the same level as Italy. We have come here to play and not to defend. We have come here to play a great match. We have players from all over Europe who have great qualities’"
