Golf’s first Major of the year was wrapped up in sensational form at Augusta National in Atlanta on Sunday. The final round was a tough one for Phil Mickelson, the left hander forced to go right handed to get out of the trees at the fourth. The result a triple bogey and he finishes with a one over 72 in a tie for third.

Peter Hanson went into the final 18 holes as the overnight leader, with a one-stroke advantage over Mickelson. Hanson finished equal third with a standard closing round of 73.

South Africa’s 2010 Open champion Louis Oosthuizen began the day alone in third and then produced one of the most memorable shots in Masters history. On the par 5 second his approach finds the slope and track and falls for an extremely rare albatross.

So it comes down to a duel between Oosthuizen and the big hitting American Bubba Watson, here at the par 3-16th Bubba hits it close to set up a birdie and the pair end up heading into a play-off, both finishing at 10-under.

And after tieing the first playoff hole. Bubba, pulled off one of the most amazing shots in masters history. From the trees, he hooks his approach to within 10 feet. That meant Oosthuizen would need to hole his putt to save par, but it just slides by.

And with two putts to claim his first Major championship, Bubba got the job done. He taps in for par to take the 2012 Masters in one of the greatest finishes ever at Augusta. The Green Jacket, a nice fit for Watson in a day he will long remember.
