Suns hold off Rockets 112-105

After 16 months of being under NBA control, the bankrupt New Orleans Hornets have a new owner, as Tom Benson, the owner of the NFL’s New Orleans Saints has agreed to purchase the team. The reported price tag for the New Orleans franchise was 338 million dollars. And the first order of business for Benson, could very well be to change the name of the franchise, which has extended it’s lease at the New Orleans Arena until 2024. With the New Orleans native in place, things could very well be looking up for New Orleans.

On the court, a big night for Steve Nash and Phoenix as they took on the Houston Rockets.

The Suns though, would fall behind by 6 late in the first half as Kyle Lowry buries the triple.

But the Suns played with more energy after halftime. Jared Dudley’s three makes it a 2-point lead for Phoenix. Dudley scored 19 on the night.

The Suns kept pushing in the second half. Steve Nash would knock down the floater, giving Phoenix a 4-point cushion midway through the third.

More from Nash, the two-time MVP would push the Suns 12 points ahead. Phoenix outscored Houston 30-14 in the Q. The Suns, in control.

To the fourth quarter...Phoenix would catch fire in the paint. Marcin Gortat, 20 points, 15 boards on the night, would put his side on top by 16.

However, the Rockets woudl make a run late in the period. Luis Scola makes it a 5-point game.

But Nash led his team to the win with a solid 18 points, 10 assist performance on the night. Dudley sealed the win as the Suns beat the Rockets 112-105.

Heat rout Bobcats 105-82

Elsewhere, Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat taking on the Charlotte Bobcats.

The Heat lost to the Bulls yesterday. But they would get off to a good start against Charlotte, taking a 7-point lead early on.

Miami came into this one 4 games behind Chicago for first in the East. LeBron James remained solid after grabbing 30 against the Bulls. The Heat led by 14 after one.

But the Bobcats refused to give in. Derrick Brown led Charlotte with 21 points, 9 rebounds on the night. They trailed by 12 after his slam.

But James would help the Heat resume control. His 3-point play gave Miami a 18-point cushion.

The Heat kept rolling on in the second half. Joel Anthony would notch the bucket inside. Miami ahead by 22.

The Heat took total control late on. LeBron James’ uncontested windmill helped Miami regain a 22-point lead.LeBron had 19 points, 9 rebounds on the night.

And they never looked back in the final quarter. Dexter Pittman sealed the victory as they cruised to win it 105-82.
