Durant leads Thunder over Miami in Finals opener

The highly anticipated showdown between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat tipped off on Tuesday night in OKC. Kevin Durant and the Thunder, looking to hold court in game one and hold off LeBron James and the Heat who are making their second straight final appearance after coming up short against Dallas last year.

OKC, in the Finals for the first time since the franchise moved from Seattle following the 07-08 season.

Kevin Durant and the Thunder, coming off a win over the San Antonio Spurs in the West Semi-Final while LeBron James and the Heat held off the Boston Celtics to make their return trip to the Finals.

The Heat got off to a good start and the veteran Shane Battier, a big part of it. He had 13 of his 17 in the first.

Miami would lead by 11 early on, but Durant’s "and-one" helping to cut that lead to 8.

However, the Heat resumed control in the second quarter. James, putting Miami on top by 13.

But the Thunder wouldn’t let Miami run away with it.Durant driving in, rising and throwing it down.

The 3-time scoring champ put on another exceptional performance on the night. OKC, back within eight once again.

The Thunder would keep rolling. Thabo Sefolosha with the hustle and the pass. Russell Westbrook cuts it to three.

And then, it would be Sefolosha again. This time keeping for the baseline layup, to tie it at 60.

Lebron would answer to keep the Heat on top. The King, dropping 30 points in this one. Miami led by five.

However, the big two of OKC. Too much for Miami. Westbrook, 27 points and 11 dimes on the night and he would put OKC back in front.

And in the 4th, Durant took over, scoring 17 of his game high 36 in the final Q. The Thunder, taking a 5-point lead.

And they never looked back. Durant would seal it as OKC held off the Heat 105-94. Round one of the KD/LBJ showdown goes to Durant as the Thunder take a 1-0 NBA Finals lead.
