Euro 2012: Czech Republic beat Greece 2-1 with 2 early goals

Euro 2012 rolled into the second round of the group stage on Tuesday. In the opener on the night, the Czech Republic was looking to rebound from a disheartening opening 4-1 loss to Russia as they took on Greece in Group A. Greece, picking up a draw with co-host Poland in their kick-off match for the European Championship.

The Czech Republic jumped to a good start only three minutes in. Petr Jiracek finds the back of the net as the Czechs took command with a 1-0 lead early on.

They would double their tally three minutes later. Defender Theodor Gebre Selassie sends the ball across with Vaclav Pilar scoring his second goal of the tournament. The Czech Republic led 2-0 after only six mintues.

The Greeks would look to bounce back from their disastrous start. In the 53rd minute, Veteran Fanis Gekas taps in to make it 2-1.

But the Czech Republic would hold on the score and win it 2-1 to get right back in the tournament. Greece, now on the edge of elimination with one point after two rounds.
