Co-hosts Poland tied 1-1 with Russia in Euro 2012

The late Group A clash featured co-hosts Poland against Russia. Robert Lewandowski threatening with a powerful shot in the opening minutes.

The Dortmund striker then sends Eugen Polanski clear in the area. But the low shot was ruled out for offside. It was 0-0.

Against a string of chances from the home side, Alan Dzagoev would put the Russians in front. It was 1-0 after 37 minutes.

But the Poland captain Jakub Blaszczykowski led his side to fight back in the second half and levelled it at 1-all. As both sides failed the add to the score, Poland and Russia escaped with one point apiece.

So, after two rounds of Group A play, Russia tops the table with 4 points and are pretty much assured of moving on. The Czech’s now sit second with three points, co-hosts Poland are in third with two, while Greece sits at the bottom with only one point.

Russia will get Greece in their final group game while Poland and the Czech Republic will play in what, appears as if it will be a knockout game to move on.
