As the Olympic torch closes in on London, many nations are trying to finalize their squads for this summer's Games. The team always facing the most pressure is that of the home nation and it's no different for Team GB, whose selection is not without some controversy. Among the 77 athletes named for their track and field squad is Dwain Chambers who has had his lifetime doping ban overturned, meanwhile women's 800-metre runner and 2009 world bronze medalist Jenny Meadows was left out.

The naming of the squad took place at Olympic Park, on the roof of Team GB house. The 77 athletes are a major component of the entire Olympic team currently totaling 487 members. The track and field squad is hoping to double the 4 medals won at the 2008 Beijing Games, and would like at least one to be gold. Officials know that their selections will face a lot of scrutiny.
