For Sun Yang, the Chinese swimming sensation and world recorder holder in the men’s 1,500 metre freestyle, London will be his second Olympic Games. He took part in the Beijing Games as a 16-year-old.

Sun Yang, Chinese Olympic swimmer, said, "I am feeling very good and very relaxed. I don’t think there is any pressure. Like I told many people in my micro-blog, I am just going to London to relax and attend a regular competition. I have no burden on my shoulders at all."

expectations for success.

Sun has been under the spotlight since he broke Australian Grant Hackett’s decade-old 1,500 metre freestyle world record at the World Championships in Shanghai last year. In London, Sun will compete in three men’s freestyle individual events, the 200, 400 and 1,500 metres.

He promised to bring back at least one gold medal from the London Games, and the most reachable target is expected to be the 1,500-metre event.

Sun Yang, Chinese Olympic swimmer, said, "As for the 400 metres, I think I have great chance to win the gold if I can give a normal performance. About the 1,500 metres, just like our centre director Mr. Shang said, that one is my event, but I don’t think Park is my only rival who has a chance. German swimmer Biederman is also a rival for me. Every swimmer has a chance to win if they can give their best performance."

Sun and all the other swimmers will be training at the University of Bath for about two weeks, and then move to the Olympic village on July 23rd.
