US sailing team arrives for Olympics

The first athletes to arrive for next week's start of the Olympic Games are landing in London. The United States sailing team was among a large group of athletes, officials and spectators beginning to show up at Heathrow Airport on Monday.

It was expected to be one of the busiest days of Olympic arrivals into London. The USA's sailing squad touched down early Monday morning. Heathrow is expected to process over 120,000 passengers, 10,000 more than would be expected at this time of year. Volunteers made sure that the arriving athletes were able to get smoothly to the coaches and trains available to take them to the Olympic Village in Stratford.

The USA sailing team will get one overnight stay in London before traveling down to Weymouth, the venue for the Olympic sailing regatta.USA Sailing Team leader Dean Brenner said the team was happy to finally be in London and is looking forward to final training before the competition starts.

Dean Brenner, USA Sailing Team Leader, said, "We're feeling great, it's great to be in London. You know, obviously we've been working a while for this and now it's time for the big test, and we're looking forward to getting down to Weymouth for a couple more weeks of training and then get going with the Games."
