Athletics star Oscar Pistorius takes part in last race before Olympics

The world will watch one of the most inspiring Olympic stories starting next week, as double amputee Oscar Pistorius competes in the London games. The athletics star took part in his last race before traveling to the UK, in Lignano, Italy on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old South African was a crowd favorite, with hundreds asking for his autograph. He called his second place finish in the 400 meter race a success, as he prepares to begin his Olympic campaign.

Pistorius wears carbon fibre blades and was cleared to compete against able-bodied athletes by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in 2008. He’ll take part on South Africa’s 4 X 400 relay team for the London Olympics as well as the individual 400 meters. The man known as the ’Blade Runner, is excited about his history-making turn at the Games.
