Neymar is the face of the future of Brazilian soccer. The dynamic youngster is considered the next in a long line of football stars that the soccer-mad country has produced, and his stature will only grow if he can help the nation achieve the only football title it's never won.

Beneath the iconic sugar loaf mountain a young man on the way to becoming an icon of Brazilian football plays with the young squad that will represent Brazil in London 2012, there is no doubt on the pitch at this Olympics all eyes will be on 20 year old Neymar de Santos Silva Junior or simply Neymar. Jealousy from team mates? No, Forward Alexandre Pato has nothing but praise.

Brazil's Neymar, left, jokes with teammates Lucas, center and Ganso during a
training session in preparation for the London 2012 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil, Wednesday July 11, 2012.

Alexandre Pato, Brazilian Olympic Football Team, said, "I think Neymar is doing really well for Brazil, Brazil is a country of football, he is showing good things about Brazil and not only in football. He is taking young football outside of Brazil, winning things since a young age. I think the merit is deserved and we as Brazilians are very proud of him. Let’s just hope now he can help Brazil bring back the gold medal."

If the Brazilian squad manage to net gold it will be the first Olympic in Brazilian history.

Juan Jesus, Brazilian Olympic Football Team, said, "Many think we are a young and sometimes inexperienced side but it will make us proud to bring home the gold for Brazil."

Brazil's soccer players Neymar (L) and Leandro Damiao fight for the ball during
a training session ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games, at Urca Army Fort in
Rio de Janeiro July 11, 2012.

Here in this military base in Rio de Janeiro Brazil are playing their last practice sessions before they head to London. It’s a chance for the press and the public to get a glimpse of the magic they hope will be repeated at the Olympics.

Several of Brazil's players are already in Europe, Pato and Juan both in Italy, Marcelo at Real Madrid and Rafael at Man Utd. Brazilian club Santos has fought to keep Neymar in Brazil, he is reportedly secured by a 60 million dollar buyout clause. This is unlikely to disuade European clubs to once again show interest at the Olympics. However Andre Sanchez from the Brazilian Association of Football thinks less players are being tempted to Europe.

Andre Sanchez, Brazilian Association of Football, said, "It's part of the course but i think conditions and salaries have improved here, I don't think it’s true so many players are going to Europe and if they do it's all part of the course you know, experience for them."

These young fans watching their idols will hope that Neymar will stick around. Fans collective, school kids: We love you Neymar, you are in my heart.
