Olympic basketball fans got a preview of what’s to come in London on Tuesday. The world’s two top-ranked basketball squads faced each other in a warm-up game, with team USA meeting Spain in Barcelona. This matchup would be the toughest test yet for both teams before the Olympic tournament begins.

The Spaniards have better size up front, and they used that advantage effectively in the first quarter. Victor Sada scored, and Spain led by nine early against the Americans.

But the USA began to turn it around late in the quarter. Russell Westbrook reduced the deficit to two points. He’ll play in his first Olympics next week.

Team USA brought more scoring punch in the second quarter. Carmelo Anthony had 23 points by half-time. London will be his third Olympic games. Kobe Bryant is a 33 year-old Olympic veteran. The Lakers star added to the USA’s edge.

The USA led Spain by 8 at the half, and the squad turned-on the jets in the third quarter. The Americans went to the fourth quarter with a 74-59 lead in Barcelona.

Spain struggled on both sides of the court, while NBA finals MVP LeBron James created some highlight scoring for the USA.

The Americans won it going-away 100-to-78. The victory puts the squad at 5-and-0 going into the Olympic men’s tournament. Team USA meets France in its London opener, Sunday.
