China Junior Golf Open to tee off

China's Hebei province is home to this year's HSBC Junior Golf Open. The event begins Wednesday and on Tuesday, organizers held an opening ceremony, while golfers took to the course for a practice session at the Grandeur South Golf & Country Club.

The tournament is one of the key elements of the China Junior Golf Plan, which aims to train world level golfers. The most famous alumni is 14-year-old Andy Zhang, who qualified for the 2012 US Open making history as the youngest person to ever qualify for the major. As for the event, it is a team-based tournament, and each squad consists of four players, two male and two female, whose ages range from 10 to 18.

Many elite Chinese junior golfers are involved, most notably, Shi Yuting and Guo Wanyi, who are both on the Chinese national golf team. 19 teams will participate in the three-day 54-hole tournament, which tees off Wednesday and ends Friday.
