Hong Kong’s wheelchair fencers have received a show of support from one of the city’s most famous movie stars as Andy Lau paid the team a visit on Wednesday. For the past 20 years or so, Lau has been a mainstay in the Asian film market acting in over 150 films, which have grossed over 1.7 billion Hong Kong dollars while also showcasing his talents as a singer.

But on this day, it was all about the talents of the Hong Kong wheelchair fencing team as Chui-yee Yu was competing in the women’s individual epee category A finals. Yu had previously won the title in the women’s individual foil. And Yu would do her hometown star proud as she backed up her win in the foil with a second gold in the epee. Yu, easily getting by her Hungarian opponent 15-6 to claim the London Paralympic title.

Chui Yee Yu, double fencing gold medallist, said,"My coach was more nervous than me. In the competition, my score kept ahead of other athletes a lot. But he still kept on shouting and shouting. And he would remind me what to do after I dropped one or two points. At that time, I thought he should take it easy. I do know how to compete in the Games."

Andy Lau, Hong Kong movie star, said,"I felt very proud of them. Their career road is more difficult than ours."
