In only a week’s time the Asian Champions League top team will be crowned after Wednesday’s semi finals. Ulsan Hyundai of South Korea hosted Bunyodkor of Uzbekistan in their second leg clash, the hosts holding a comfortable 3-1 lead coming into the match.

Bunyodkor coach Kasimov Mirdjalal was critical of his team’s showing in the first leg, but remained confident that his players could still progress. The coach’s strong words seemed to have an effect as the Uzbek team continued to press for an early goal. In the sixth minute, striker Shavkat Salomov fired in a left-footed shot from the edge of the area, only to be denied by keeper Kim Young Kwang.

Kim once again kept Salomov at bay in the 17th minute, when Bunyodkor captain Viktor Karpenko delivered a neat cross from the right.

But it was the hosts that broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute. Ulsan’s Brazilian forward Rafinha crossed and Bunyodkor defender Karimov Hayrulla fluffed the clearance. Kim Shin Wook put Ulsan Hyundai 1-0 up.

The home side sealed the match in the 73rd minute with a fabulous strike by the talented Lee Keun Ho. The Korean international was put through with a neat pass and Keun Ho struck with a first-time shot from the edge of the penalty box. It finished 2-0 to Ulsan, and they progress to the trophy match - 5-1 on aggregate.
