Guizhou hold 10-man Guangzhou 1-1 in first leg

Guizhou Renhe hosted Guangzhou Evergrande in their first leg of the FC Cup on Saturday. League champion Guangzhou are looking to double their trophy tally while Guizhou will clinch a place in the 20-13 AFC Champions League if they win the Cup.

Guizhou broke the deadlock 10 minutes into the match. Yang Hao’s corner eventually went to Rafa Jorda, whose header gave the hosts 1-0 lead. It was the Spaniard’s fifth goal of the Cup campaign.

In 29th minute, Guangzhou had a chance on the edge of the area, only to see Dario Conca’s shot go wide.

But the visitors equalized the score in the 48th minute. Zheng Zhi sliced the defence and swiftly passed the ball to Lucas Barrios, the Paraguan international easily made it 1-all.

In 81st minute, Gao Lin received a yellow card and protested to the referee, who showed the attacker a second yellow. Both sides would not be able to find more chances and the game ended 1-1.
