Members of the organizing committee for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics and the organizing committee from London 2012 have wrapped up a week-long session in Brazil designed to share notes and get the first South American host ready for their turn in the spotlight. At the conclusion of the head-to-head, Rio organising committee president Carlos Nuzman praised the "extraordinary" help from the London team.

IOC Vice President Nawal El Moutawakel says London’s experience will provide a "long-term influence" to the future hosts and the Olympic movement. The Moroccan is one of the possible candidates to be the next president of the IOC, an election which will be held in September 2013 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She says she’s happy that more and more women are represented in the organisation and she believes it is very possible that a woman could achieve the top spot on the Committee.

Nawal Al Moutawakel, Chair of Rio 2016 Coordination Commission, said, "For the first time ever, London has done tremendous job by including women in all their structure and also we have seen women being participating in 26 sports out of the 204 National Olympic Committees. So, it was the Games where women’s inclusion was there. And there’s nothing in our charter that forbids women, in the future, to think and dream of one day become an IOC member. I said ’why not’? At the moment, for myself, it’s not the case. I have not made up my mind but, when I do, I will share it with you. And thank you for asking again."
