Inter Milan could move a point back with a win at Parma. In an indication of what was to come early on Walter Samuel almost turned a cross into his own goal in the fourth minute, but Samir Handanovic was alert to the danger.

Inter’s best chance appear in the 63rd minute. But Fredy Guarín’s big shot from outside the box is rejected by Antonio Mirante.

Parma’s attacking strategy paid off in the 75th-minute when Nicola Sansone ran 40 metres, easing his way from two defenders before calmly slotting the ball past Handanovic.

An absolutely exceptional individual effort from Sansone as he gives Parma the 1-nil lead.

Inter immediately set about trying to find an equaliser. But Parma showed plenty of team spirit and concentration to leave them frustrated. 1-0 was final and the win takes Parma up to seventh on 20 points.

So, that loss for Inter Milan certainly hurts. Juventus continue to lead the Serie A table on 32 points. Napoli’s win moves them just two points back, but Inter remains four back level with Fiorentina on 28 points. Fiorentina though, does have the edge in goal differential. AS Roma and Lazio are tied for fifth with 23. Roma holds the goal advantage but Lazio has a game in hand.
