Chinese super league: Evergrande sets to host Beijing

07-31-2013 17:58 BJT

We continue this afternoon...with football action from here in China as this nation’s Super League gets back into full swing here Wednesday evening. With a solid run at the East Asian Cup behind them, national team players are back with their clubs, and the premier match of round eighteen will see 9 of those men in action as run-away league leaders Guangzhou Evergrande line up against third placed Beijing Guoan down south.
Evergrande come into this match-up in total control of the league, unbeaten through the first 17 games of the season...a pair of draws the only blemishes on their record. They lead second placed Shandong by 13 points and third placed Beijing by 18. Guoan however, could have reason to believe this is a night that Evergrande could be vulnerable as 7 of their players have returned from national team duty in South Korea...compared to just 2 for the Capital club. However, Evergrande defender Zheng Zhi says...he believes his teammates are ready to meet the challenge.
