Cesar Cielo Filho takes gold medal at FINA World Championships

Franklin won the 100 backstroke, 200 freestyle and two relays she was never challenged in the 220 backstroke the 18-year- old will go for a women's record of a sixth gold in the in the 4 by 100 metres medley relay on Sunday where the USA are the favourites.

Ledecky Breaks World Records Set in 2008 Olympics

Franklin’s compatriot Katie Ledecky set a world record in women’s 800-meter freestyle with a swim of eight minutes 13 point 86 seconds. The sixteen year old becomes the first woman to win the gold in three freestyle middle-long-distance events.

South Africa’s Chad le Clos won men’s 100-meter butterfly to the two hundred he won earlier in the week.

China’s Sun Yang, the world record holder in the men’s 15 hundred-meter freestyle completed the prelims as he looks to join Grant Hackett as the only men to ever sweep the 400, 800 and 15 hundred freestyles in a single world championship. The final is later on Sunday. The youngster would have a comfortable lead a third of the way through. Sun would keep steady pace and raced his way through the last 100 meters to finish in 14 minutes 54.65 seconds to top qualifying. Aside from his race, Sun’s relationship with former coach Zhu Zhi’gen is also a hot topic. But it seems that it’s getting better.
