Evergrande AFC Champions League win enters FIFA "13 moments that defined 2013"

FIFA have picked out "13 moments that defined 2013". Guangzhou Evergrande winning the AFC Champions League title is included, and it is also the only Asian event chosen by the international football organization.

FIFA singles out the farewell of Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, back in May, also Lionel Messi’s record-breaking fourth successive Ballon d’Or from the very start of the year.

Among others we can see Guangzhou Evergrande winning the AFC Champions League title - the only Asian event on the list. According the sports governing body, "Evergrande rewrote the records".

Marcelo Lippi's side also made it a double by easing to the super league title, and then became the first Chinese side to be crowned continental champions in 23 years. The team picked up awards at the the AFC's annual dinner.

Evergrande captain, Zheng Zhi, won the Player of the Year award.

The Chinese champions were named Team of the Year and then finished fourth at their first Club World Cup in Morocco.

Guangzhou Evergrande winning the AFC Champions League title is the only Asian entry in the "13 moments that defined 2013" chosen by FIFA.
