Djokovic gears up for Melbourne

01-10-2014 16:34 BJT

Gunning to win the Australia Open for a 5th time, Serbia's Novak Djokovic appears to be in control of his game as he heads into Melbourne.

Djokovic was putting together some fantastic tennis on Thursday as he took on Juan Monaco in an exhibition match at the Kooyong Classic.

Opting not to play in the eight-man invitational Kooyong Classic tournament - a warm-up event ahead of the Australian Open, Djokovic's match was a one-off exhibition game.

He will bid for a fourth straight title at Melbourne Park when the tournament gets underway on Monday.

The world number two announced last month he had hired German legend Boris Becker to be his head coach.

Watched by the 46-year-old six-time grand slam winner, Djokovic cruised to victory over Monaco 7-5, 6-1. He was very looking forward to the upcoming season.
