NBA: Atlanta Hawks prepare for London game

01-16-2014 17:12 BJT

The most intriguing game when the NBA schedule tips off later today, might be the Atlanta Hawks against the Brooklyn Nets, not because of their positions in the Eastern Conference standings - as both teams are more than 10 games behind the first-place Indiana Pacers - but because of where they will play , the O2 Arena in London.

This will be the first regular season contest ever played in the UK’s capital, And it will mark the conclusion of this winter’s NBA Global Games - a series of match-ups in 10 different countries - but all of the others were exhibition games, while this one does count in the standings. Atlanta guard Kyle Korver will be looking to extend his NBA record of 107 consecutive games with at least one three-pointer. And he won’t be too happy if his streak comes to an end. On the other side of the pond.

"We’ll just try to not let that happen, you know, just try to make the shots that you get. That’s my approach every night, and just try to make that first one, and if you don’t, try to make the second one, you know. But, you know, it’s been a cool thing to be a part of. Anytime you have an opportunity to be a part of an NBA record, it’s an honor, it’s a very cool thing. The NBA, we’ve always been proud of being an amazing basketball league and there have been so many incredible basketball players who have come through over the years, and to hold a record is a very special thing." Kyle Korver, Atlanta Hawks Guard said.
