The favorite on the men’s side - Novak Djokovic - is also through to the quarters. Fabio Fognini challenging that ace, more out of hope than expectation though. And you can see the Italian know’s it’s all over with that smile at the net.

The three-time defending champion winning it, with ease, 6-3, 6-0, 6-2.

So the other men through today are David Ferrer, who has reached his 4th successive quater-finals, beating the German Florian Mayer in 4 sets. He will play Tomas Berdych, who cruised past the other big server Kevin Anderson, in straight sets.

On the women’s side Flavia Pennetta came through against Angeliqe Kerber in 3 sets, to tee up that quarter-final date with Li Na. Meanwhile Eugenie Bouchard beat the home favorite Casey Delaqua.
