08-10-2010 15:16 BJT

Q5: We know that in China the most severe problem is the imbalance between urban and rural, and coastal and inland, and this consumes a great deal of concerns of leaders and rightly so . On the other hand, there is tension between increased urbanization and all of the issues of energy consumption and pollution. So this tension is a real issue in China, and maybe even more difficult in China than in other countries because of the very large polulation. So in that contest of knowing that urbanization is critical for China in order to deal the imbalances. How do you rasal with this tension?

A: For babies born in Shanghai today there's o more distinction between urban and rural residence. Residence permits are granted to people from other regions who come to Shanghai to work, and their registered permanent residence is automatically transferred to Shanghai. Therefore, with time the urban-rural dual structure will disappear. As a result, we can look forward to solving a serious probblem that's been making things difficult for us for a long time.
