Travelogue 10/31/2012 Discovering Shangri-La Part 5

10-31-2012 07:08 BJT

Literally meaning "sun and moon in heart" in Tibetan, Shangri-la, an ideal home only found in heaven, is located at the meeting point of Tibet, Yunnan and Sichuan. There the lofty and continuous snowy mountains, endless grasslands, steep and grand gorges, azure lakes and the bucolic villages always leave a deep impression on visitors. As a Chinese saying goes, "The earliest sunrise is seen in Shangri-La; and the most unique place is also there". Once you visit, you will fully appreciate the meaning of this saying. We are finally in Yunnan and our final destination lies at the Meili Mountain range, one of the eight secret mountains in Buddhism. (Part 5)
