27th Harbin Snow and Ice Festival


Ice and snow are creating a fairytale scene in Harbin, the "Ice City", where the 27th International Ice and Snow Festival, has just opened to the public. The Festival, established in 1985, is held annually from January 5 and lasts for more than a month.

January is the perfect time for winter-lovers to have fun and enjoy the various seasonal art in the world of ice and snow. A snow sculpture contest has just concluded in the northeast China city of Harbin.

The polar temperature creates a stellar atmosphere around this form of art, which is now a calling card for the capital of Heilongjiang Province.

International Snow Marriage Ceremony

A number of couples looking to impress their families and guests are holding their wedding ceremonies at the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival in northeast China. Some tales of cold matrimony from the frosty capital of Heilongjiang Province.

The winter cold has already settled in with temperatures falling to 20 degrees below zero, winter swimming enthusiasts gathered at the edge of Songhua River to celebrate the Snow and Ice Festival in their own way.

Snow Sculpture Competition

As part of the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival, the expo has drawn crowds from near and far with a theme connecting Harbin and Italy. Dozens of huge snow sculptures with diverse shapes and themes are welcoming visitors, with the biggest piece measuring over 100 meters long.

Disney Ice and Snow Wonderland

Every year, Ice and Snow World is the foremost highlight of the event, and also the biggest of its kind in the world. This year, organizers have teamed up with Disney to construct a Disney Ice and Snow Wonderland. It will take up an area of 600-thousand square meters, three times the size of last year.
