Fifth day of CCTV´s first online Spring Festival Gala

Watching the annual CCTV Spring Festival gala, broadcasting live from the CCTV studio every year, seems to be an indispensable part of the new year celebration. But this year the TV station decides to give online gala a shot, in an attempt to attract those netizens that may not be glued to TVs.

CNTV has been broadcasting the first gala yesterday on CCTV-3 and CNTV (www.cntv.cn) at 7 p.m. on the third day of the Chinese New Year.

The night's festivities are based on ideas gathered from Internet users themselves. Netizens also turned out to be the major performing force of the gala, where bountiful videos, micro-blogs and online interaction with stars are all part of the celebration.

Apart from famous stars and top-notch artists, the virtual gala also features web celebrities and grassroots entertainers such as Chopsticks Brothers, and Gong Linna, who shot to fame with her wacky folk song called "Tan Te", or "Disturbed."
