This year marks the 78th anniversary of July 7 Incicent. On July 7th, 1937, a crucial access point to Beijing, Lugou Bridge, also known as Marco Polo Bridge, was attacked by Japanese troops, which marks the beginning of the full-scale Japanese invasion. It also marks the beginning of the War of Resistance by the Chinese People against Japanese Aggression, part of Japan’s militaristic past, which it continues to deny to this day. The eight-year war cost more than 35 million Chinese lives, both soldiers and civilians. The date is one that all Chinese shall never forget.
