Editor's Note

In the western part of Tibet, Ngari has an average elevation of more than 4,500 meters, 1,600 kilometers from the regional capital Lhasa, and is famous as the top of the roof of the world. It is emblazoned with its holy Kangrinboqe Mountain and Mapam Yumco Lake. The area has many lakes but less people and is a paradise of wild yaks, Pantholops hodgsoni, Mongolian gazelle, wild donkeys and other kinds of wildlife. The city seems quite empty and deserted, but as far as a place like Tibet is concerned, this is the perfect setting for exploring the magical beauty of this unexplainable land.
